Goal was to try and find the spot that Dingweed, Bigdog and friends camped at.
That spot is hidden in plain view. We plopped on 6/21 about 50 yards from their site.

Even though I have 50mm KTM forks on my bike he still felt a dude on a stock suspended KLR was superior to me on my R80 airhead. Pffffttttt........Mike tried to indicate verbally that he was a noobish off road rider and I was the one with a few more years under my belt, but the guy kept eyeing me and my mount.
I know that look from 690 owners........and than some end up on the back end of a tow rope behind an R80

Great RR Jenna.

In between starting my new job, renewing a lease with my tenants, fixing all the stuff I broke on my bike and working on my brother's KLR, I am also still trying to figure out how to post pics on here. Hoping I'll be able to get to it tonight.

7 miles down the road.....didn't realize that at the time. Scott told us where it was but we weren't prepared for that. Our site was much more *wild*....I'm glad Mike found it.

Great RR Jenna.
Ha! You know he's one to talk.....*fuel pump, cough*.......The R80 took it like a champ. Only small parts were smashed, and/or falling off.

Great Stuff Jenna!

It probably was the altitude for Mike that morning - not uncommon.

Too funny about the clueless rider you met - If someone's been riding around the SW you'd think they'd have learned to see when storm clouds are forming...

Glad to see the ride report.
It was good swapping stories at Ironton (the bottom of Corkscrew Gulch).
From the pics, I see you found the route over Ophir. My opinion,,, That general area of Colorado is about as scenic as the Rocky Mountain range can get!

Not all who ride a 690 makes assumptions about a girls skills on a big adventure bike. I tip my helmet to you both for taking on the adventure. I'd like to see that dude swap machines, jump on a 500+ lb bike and do the stuff you guys did. Then let's see if he talks shit.

The trip sounds very memorable.

Thanks Moe!! Glad you found your way here......I still wouldn't mind owning a 690 , but for now the airhead gets me where I need to go.

greetings from thunder bay, ontario . canada

hi JENNA and Mike ( sorry Mike but I'm not sure if i met you when Jenna was in thunder bay last , I THINK IT WAS YOU ).
loving the report .
most of all i had a great laugh at your attitude towards bike maintenance. i am getting ready to go to MEEKER CO, and you should have seen the " comedy of errors" that took place in my driveway getting one of my 3 AFRICA twins ready for the trip. let's just say that i took 3 running bikes and in one day i had 3 non useable bikes.
it's all good now.

thanks for sharing your ride. come back to northern Ontario. you and mike are always welcome

Thanks, the rest of the TAT was great, but I did make up some of my own route (which was awesome!).
Names Randy, we came in to the 3 Step as you guys were putting the finishing touches on the KLR.
Very cool adventure you two had.

I thought it might have been a touch of altitude sickness plus some dehydration. It was hovering around 100 degrees the day before and I was having so much fun I might not have remembered to drink enough water.
