RT / Pacific Coast - Big scooters???

This has already been answered in the Baddest Ass Scooter Thread. We've been told no it's not a scooter by the one that knows.

I voted yes for scooter.

It's only a matter of time before these new 650 scooters become 800s. And some are already leaning toward being non step-through. You have to admit the PC800 looks a lot like a scooter. It's got a trunk! And a completely covered engine.

And is that a floorboard?

I have owned a '96 RT and can tell you it's full bodied but no scooter - case in point rode the AN650 in a post rain highway setting this week and got 0% wet.
Whenever I rode the RT on wet roads my lower legs got back spray.
So based on the scooter philosophy of better weather protection the RT is NOT a scooter - plus the weight was way high compared to the burger

I've ridden a PC800 and about 10 other scooters. My definition has nothing to do with size, plastic or protection. When sitting on the "thing" with your feet on the pegs, platform, whatever can you squeeze your knees together and get them to touch. If you can touch yours knees together then you are on a scooter. PC800 - no scooter. RT - no scooter. Vespa GT200 - scooter. Big Ruckus - ??? Can you touch your knees with your feet remaining on the platforms? I'm not so sure. This may not be a scooter. The little Ruckus is but the big one? I know the "Knees Together" test may be pretty simplistic but its the best I can come up with. Rich

If they're not, how about the new Yamaha FJR1300AS with a semi-automatic gearbox (push-button on the bar or foot change) or the new Honda Deauville - built-in panniers, and you can push the backs down to join them under the pillion seat apparently
