Maryland Drivers - Watch Out

Didn't see a Md thread that I could throw some change into, so I start here...

Drove daughter to camp at College Park on Sunday, from Pa.

Stayed away from the I-95 craziness as much as possible, but had to hit some of it at least.

Took I-83 into Md.

Some observations

No one uses their signals to change lanes (very similar to Pa) and I know the troopers have a deserved rep, but people get out of the left Lane if you can't go better than 75.

Just mayhem driving between Baltimore & the Terps capital. It's worse than NYC area traffic (well maybe not LI - but I don't go there)

All I could think of was Ludacris song Move Get the Fcuk Out da Way!

In Ga. area if you're not doing over 85 they run you off the road.

One guy was doing 40 in the fast Lane with his flashers on - causing a 1/2 mile back up across 4 lanes

You guys are brave mofo's if you ride on these interstates

In the Mid Atlantic, when a car goes by at way over socially normed speed, it's almost always Maryland tags. Just my observation.

If there is a lane ending, Maryland drivers will always wait to the last second before merging.

Maryland drivers are by far the worst I have ever seen. They take inconsideration to a new level. Morans I tell ya.

Whenever I travel, I am shocked when drivers know how to merge and use signals, etc.

I guess when your state has police focusing on revenue generation, rampant crime including murder, the highest cancer rate in the country, outrageous taxes, you have to expect folks to be looking out for themselves.

I have been here since 1969, but West Virginia here I come, or Roatan.

I like riding the interstate... but I'm an idiot.
If you think the Baltimore DC corridor blows... try the DC to Fredvegas corridor. Think should be 6 lanes on both sides and it's 3.

It's a SMIB thing from Southern MD...........drive under the speed limit in the fast lane because you'll need to turn left in 15 miles.

EDIT: They fling their cut grass across the road too........

Anarchy

Given 2 lanes on the interstate and people can figure it out. Given 4 lanes it is Anarchy. Stop thinking like it is the rest of the USA. It's not. You will just get yourself angry. The best place to be on the interstate is on clear road. Don't ever drive among clogged up cars. They change lanes for no particular reason. I ride everyday from Baltimore to Delaware line in Absurdistan. Far right lane is the best to pass all traffic, it is always open. Next lane is trucks. Next lane are holiday cars with everything strapped to roof and rear of vehicles. They are on cruise control and only use mirrors to see if all the bicycles are still there on the back. The fast lane is for those who are self-enforcing the speed limit they like. It is best to get through the traffic by using turn signals of course. Forget flashing a car. They will just hit the brakes on you. Best of luck driving through my state. Blame it on the cell phone more than the cops. Nobody pays attention until they pull in their driveway. They could care less about your motorcycle and your life.

It's not just MD drivers, VA has their share of non driving asshats too, or just the interstates.

The vast majority of drivers in the DC/Balt Metro area drive like they have their heads up their ass no matter what type of road they're on.

Allstate came out with their list of cities with the worst drivers. I'm sure you will all be surprised that Washington DC was numero uno, Baltimore was two.

This does suck because insurance is bloody expensive here.

Considering travel in the megalopolis, I really would rather stick to the interstates. I know they freak folks out. What freaks me out is HWY1 and other 4 lane stripmall macdonalds type of roads. So busy. So many opportunities for left turners, people running stop lights or pulling out in front of you. Two examples come to mind: Rick, the party boss was taken from us by a left turner going to a yard sale. There is a horribly injured kid in a hospital, right now in Pueblo CO due to a cager running a red light.
imo the right lane on the slab is the worst place to be. Too much going on over there. I try to stay in the left lane. There is way less opportunity for other drivers to effect me.
