Good work Ben!

There's a shiny diner over near crossroads mall near the DMV office. I ate there one and thought it was about 3.5 greasy spoons.

We like it a lot. We close on the new place Friday - it will be nice to be settled again.

Riding is awesome. I forgot how many curves are out here!

Well combined a run to grab the TriTOR and then move it along...so now naturally today's subject became the next tag in the TriTOR
Today's diner destination is the Rockin' Comet in Clayton NC on Bus. rt70... I give them high marks on the retro styling of the iconic american diner....

The interior of the diner looks a little more done up than the Highway Diner ...very retro...

And the standard STBNE breakky...

The food was good but it really was not as good as the Highway diner....here they ddidnt even try to make a real western omlette. All the key ingredients were piled on top of the eggs and and then the cheese which was american when I asked for swiss...was melted also on top and not inside of the "omlette"... No homefries just hash browns(not my fave) So while they get 5 Greasy Spoons for their iconic architecture and styling of interior...the food was just so so.. over all my rating for this diner is 3 Greasy spoons....As much as i liked their decor the food was not what I would come back for...Overall feel was that they were just ok. Their menu... which I did take pics of but all came out blurry...was ok but not nearly as extensive as one would expect from a really excellent diner...Wait service was just average...
A further observation...a telltale sign of a good restaurant is a full parking lot regardless of the time you arrive... The Hwy Diner lot was full...the lot at the Rockin Comet was nearly empty...and there were only a couple of others eating while I was there.

Well the TriTor tag was setting in Pittsboro so that gave me the excuse to head that way but Ofc the obligatory brekky before anything else...so here we are at ...Gypsy's Shiny Diner and it is...
I took a ton of pics but for some odd reason of late...my phone cam has been really sucky.... The parking lot was nearly empty so i thought maybe thats not a good sign...but the proof will be on the plate...

And my brekky...a Cowboy omlette with smoked bacon and wisconsin cheddar cheese...home fries and buttered wheat toast w/ coffee. Home fries were very good very seasoned but not quite as well done as the Hwy Diner did it. Good effort in making the omlette and the ingredients made it quite enjoyable. The iconic american diner theme is clear throughout. Service was excellent. Menu was very extensive...I didnt post pics of it because you can visit their website and see it there....So this place is worthy of eating at and as such they garnered 4.5 greasy spoons

Now that's a diner! I like the jukebox selectors in the booths, very retro.
