Then perhaps this is a dealer quality control issue...

I've complained about my dealer in the past, but they were right on top of this one and made it painless. I did take the wheel off the bike and take it in when the new one showed up (gives them a few bucks in labor). But they swapped out the rim right there on the spot so I wouldn't have to make a return trip.

On a side note, my dealer knows I frequent this forum and KTMTalk. The owner made mention that "they need to treat me right" or I'd be slamming them here & on KTMTalk. I guess they lurk every now and then to see how things are going...

Are ya there Russell??? Good job mate!! Thanks!

I thought it was all KTM NA now.

And before that it was Barrett Marketing.

What'd I miss?

I got my official notification in the mail! Better late than never! It does say something about that if you fixed the problem yourself, you can get reimbursed (or something like that). So all you guys who did the replacement / relace through Woodys (and others) might be able to recoup some of the expense....

Yee-friggin' ha.

When this thread started up a coupla months ago, I buried my head firmly in the sand. I didn't want to know what KTM was gonna do. But today, while I was eating lunch at my desk, I decided what the heck, I'll catch up.

This is the original front wheel. Ain't it purdy?

I had some broken and rusted spokes, so I bought enough to replace the bad ones, took the wheels apart, had the rims polished, black anodized them, had a local dirtbike wrench re-lace them, and bingo! Ain't she purdy?

I did all this back in the Spring, before there was any noise whatsoever about a recall.

WTF do I do now? KTM's not going to give me a black Excel, and I really don't want to do the polish/anodize thing again, although it would only be one wheel now. I don't have a letter, and I'm the second owner, so I may not get one. Maybe I should just run it til it pops, then get the recall wheel.

i bet if you have the bike with the right VIN and the stock rim is on there, you will get a replacement... unless you go to one of "those" dealerships
