Talking Barstow 2 Vegas DS Ride 2014

Who's doing the Barstow to Vegas Dual Sport Ride this year?

Just moved out to Kalifornia from Colorado and wanna get some riding in once the temperatures cool down.

I would also like to do the Los Coyotes ride, but cannot find any info on it besides the fact that it's on Nov 1st.

If anyone needs a team-mate / riding buddy hit me up.

I'll be on this:

I'm gonna post on the D-37 forum once my registration gets approved.

Thanks, Dan

Hi YP,

I'm planning on LAB2V too. I'll probably ride a WRR. Welcome to CA from another transplant (from Mich). I'm in the LA area, what part of CA you in?

That is a really really big Dual Sport bike for Ca standards. Unless you are an expert A Enduro rider, you want to take the Adv options on rides.

I have more rides listed on DualSportWest.com

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm in Thousand Oaks.

Unfortunately I sold my 530 xc-w before coming here since it was only eligible for a green sticker. The move and new house has bleed me dry so it will be a bit before I pick up the 500.

Any info on the Los Coyotes DS ride?

You do realize that is just a 690 right? I rode LA-B-LV on a 690 and took the "hard" routes with no trouble.

I did last years LAB2V on my 990S. Another guy (Big Won, Big Juan..I don't remember the exact spelling) also did it on a 990...and did the hard ways....2 UP!! That dude is totally badd ass. And I know I'm not an A rider. You 'should' be fine on a little ole 690.

Glad you're doing LA-B-to-V. Don't let anyone pressure you into doing hard ways. For your first year, just stick with the easy ways unless you are an expert rider on that bike and want to experience a lot more mileage and steep hill climbs. You want to make sure you make all the mileage and get to experience the whole 450 mile ride.

Lost Coyotes will be posting their flyer up as soon as they have all the info/permits gathered together for their ride. Their ride is one of the least expensive District 37 dual sport events all year and will help you get in some sand practice in the desert for LA-B-to-V. There's no preregistration for their ride; you just show up.

You'll want to make sure you have a roll chart holder for both Lost Coyotes and LA-B-to-V rides. Get the Countdown one; it's the deepest one that can hold the longest roll charts. You should be able to purchase one through Flanders Company.

Are you aware that you can go riding in the mountains now? It's cool enough in the San Bernardino Mountains and they are somewhat close. You'll find a thread called 'Best Noob "Day Trip" Trail....' about riding there if you need to find a riding buddy. That will help keep you in riding shape now.

The Lost Coyotes ride is kinda low key. Never a lot of info about it before hand and it gets over shadowed by LA-b2V. Keep a look out for it on the D37 site
