Swiss rider heading East from Toronto

We're hosting a Swiss rider this evening on the road since Jan 31/14, he's heading toward Halifax, and plans to ship his bike from there to Hamburg.

Currently he's limping along with a well worn front sprocket on his '99 XRV 750 Honda Africa Twin. We're hoping to help him find a replacement, but if anyone has any ideas, please get in touch. Also, if you are able to host him along the way, I assure you Chris is a lovely fellow. Get in touch with him at gfrberc(at)gmail.com

Did you have any luck locating a replacement front sprocket? Could you not use a Honda Transalp front sprocket as the two bike share so many components and the Transalp was available through regular channels here in Canada - Honda or others should stock something like that...

I live near Prescott and can provide a place to stay and a shop to work on his bike.

Looks like the '99 Honda VLX600C Shadow has the same front sprocket.
We can order one online or go visit my father at the local Honda bike dealer to get an OEM sprocket for Chris.

I sent him an email with my coordinates - will let you know if I get a response.

Possible solution! Chris is meeting up with a fellow in Belleville who has an Africa Twin. He's on his way shortly, so we're hoping it'll work out.

He'll be in touch for the offer to stay in Prescott tonight!

Just heard that Chris met up with tattewell & got the sprocket he needed!

Again, if anyone can offer a camping space or bed along the way for him, shoot an email his way (see original post)

Just got an email from Chris - he'll be here around 7pm.

Did you get the new sprocket installed TW, or should I make some extra space in the shop?

Laundry done and oil changed on Chris' bike.
Just need to track down a couple of electrical gremlins and he should be good for the rest of his trip.
I'll try to get a couple photos of his setup and post it up later.

Here is a photo of Chris leaving our place (Kevin & Bridget's) in Burlington on Monday morning on the way to meet-up with tattewell. He sure was pleased to find a replacement front sprocket.

Vikingtazz I'm glad to hear he took you up on your offer to stay.

Yup - that's the guy.

Chris is now leaving Prescott Ontario and heading east.
Be sure to contact him if you have room for a night between here and Halifax!
