Route along the Mississippi?

Hi,
can someone please recommend the best stretch of road from near New Orleans headed north to 'ride along the Mississippi"?

I'm staying in New Orleans for a convention and then riding home to Canada and wanted to check off what seems to be a 'must see/experience stretch of scenery', hoping someone can suggest the best way to do this as all I see on the map are short dead-end stretches that need to be cobbled together for even 1h-long ride..... I'm sure I'm missing something.

Thanks in advance...

PS: if there is anything else that is a 'must see' either between Houston and New Orleans and/or on the way north along the river in the general direction of Canada, I'd love any pointers.

River Road from Nola to Bat. R. == slow winding route with lots to see. Plantations etc.. Either side of the river.. If you cross the bridge at Bat Rouge, I assume your headed West from there. Ride up Hwy 1 to New Roads and pick a route West for a while. Lots of old farm community and old towns to see. Any 2 lane will be about the same. If your not in a Hurry.. Avoid 190 west I 10 west .. Not much to see and the paralell zig jag west will give you a host of small town life.
If you run up to Natches and cross there. Lots of windy hilly roads between St Francisville and Vicksburg. MS. I-20.. Enjoy. Alot of its flat, It is river flood plane.. but lots of History ..

Wish I was home to escort you.. Maybe next time..

Interesting that you posted this. I was doing similar searches yesterday and came up with THIS, which might be just what you need.

Enjoy

This is one of my future ride projects, I browse over it occasionally plotting and planning with no timeline set yet.

Check Google for the "great river road". Each state has maps of their routes along the Mississippi. I want to zig zag the river, crossing every bridge back and forth.

If you're sticking around until this Sunday, I can show you some bad ass twisties, gravel, easy dirt, and tar along the banks of the MS river north of Baton Rouge, and split off with you in Woodville, MS.

PM me if you're interested or if anyone else if interested in having a go at it this Sunday if the weather holds and it's not 400 degrees outside.

It does if I'm not dead. At least in late Sept. it won't be 358F and 400% RH outside.

Please PM me though as soon as you pin down the days you want to get together so we can talk through the sort of twisty tar, gravel, easy dirt you'd be interested in riding and how far up you want to go.
