Neil Graham is back with Episode 8 of The Lowdown Show podcast, and this week, he’s talking to one of the most interesting people in the American motorcycling scene. Aerostich founder Andy Goldfine is this week’s guest star.

Aerostich is a small company based out of Duluth, Minnesota, and it was a lot smaller when Andy founded the business in the 1980s. But Andy’s revolutionary ideas, backed by his and his employees’ hard work, have changed motorcycle riding gear forever. While few companies espouse Aerostich’s ideals of all-weather practicality, using the motorcycle as everyday transport, the pioneering work that Aerostich put into using synthetic materials has affected every corner of the moto gear industry.

Today, Andy still runs Aerostich in the building where it started 40 years ago, in an era when almost every aspect of the American industrial manufacturing strength has been weakened by overseas competition, or even shut down and moved out-of-country. They still publish a mail-order catalog with some of the most useful gear for the commuting or touring motorcyclist as well, sourcing gadgetry from all over the world and bringing it to riders who need it.
