Jeeze, you are hard on them things! Aside from the squeaking, I'm still lovin' mine. Over 2yrs now but I don't wear them daily as you have.

Sure hope mine last longer than this pair.

Great review. Sorry to hear of the less than ideal failures.

Mine are going on 2 years old. Very comfortable, bone dry, sole is stiff enough to ride on pegs. My only complaint is that one of them has developed a clicking noise when I walk. It's coming from the lower latch - but I can't figure out how to make it go away. No big deal, however. I'd buy another pair - but these seem like they have many years left on them.

Sent the Toucans back and kept the SIDI Adventure Goretex. LOVE the SIDIs!

My Toucans were made Q2 2013. I've got almost 2 years of 3 season commuting/riding in all weather and some off road use. And probably more than 60km of walking and hiking on them. The only care my boots get are a rinse in a river or when I wash the bike, and a through cleaning at the end of last years riding season. Mine look close to new. Not a loose stitch, hardly any wear on the soles, still Gore-Tex dry, and only minor squeaking.

Not sure what the OP is doing to get that kind of wear on his Toucans, but I hope for (and expect) another 4 or 5 years from mine... :dunno

As long as they're not destroyed, send them back and get them replaced by Gore. Guaranteed to keep you dry, I sent mine back to Gore and in 18 days had warranty authorized through Revzilla.

I love mine. Sidi are great if you have narrow little girl feet but for my wide Sasquatch feet the a* work great. Easily the most protection out of a waterproof dual sport boot available. I buy my boots to ride in not to walk in lol.

After this info ... I Ordered the Sidi adv.... ordered one size bigger ... users are saying you must have a small foot otherwise sidi is no good for You. My boot size are always 45, I ordered 46 online, living in Dubai ! I hope I won't have surprises 10 days to tell

I had the Sidi Adventure and switched to the Toucan. Sidi is a great, well made boot. Good protection, completely waterproof (I had the GoreTex version). Just did not fit my wide foot. Toucan, on the other hand has been spectacular. I have not seen any wear or de-construction issues like OP. For day in, day out "dual sport" riding the Toucan is simply much more comfortable for my foot than the Sidi.
Not sure what sort of riding OP is doing to create these issues----obviously riding far more aggressively than me---but I have not seen any issues in the area where he has experienced failure. After seeing the video (which was really well done) I went and examined mine. No problems after 10 months of all-conditions riding. We'll see.
In the end this all came down to fit. If you have a narrow foot, the last for the Sidi will provide a good fit. For wider feet, the Toucan is fabulous. Best solution is to try on both and go with what fits your foot. Got a problem with the Toucan, send 'em back.
PS: For aggressive off road riding I wear the Sidi Crossfire. Not as comfortable (and not waterproof) but there is no boot that provides better protection.
