Looking at buying a pair of Dainese boots online. Can anybody offer any feedback on whether they generally run true to size? ie if one buys ones normal shoe size, is there a good likeliehood of them fitting. Feedback on women's sizes particularly welcome but grateful for any feedback in general. Thanks in advance Dave
It has always been my experience Dave, that the Dianese boots (and SiDi boots for that matter) run about a half to full size smaller than my personal traditional brand choice - Alpine Stars. I dunno if it is a discrepancy between the US sizing system (9,0 9,5 10,0 etc.) compared to the EURO sizes (43.0 43.5 44.0) or it's just an "Italian thing"*...? *Like the Japanese (Arai) helmet sizing issue that so many refer to, when buying non-domestic (US, Oz, Europe) skid lids. The last pair of Dianese (road boots) I bought for my girls about four years ago - ran one size smaller than their usual gym shoe/trainers size. in other words - they usually had EUR size 38 in shoes... the Dianese boots that fitted best, were 39's.
Both Dianese and Sidi seem to be Euro shaped, and the comparative narrowness makes them appear smaller Have to be a bit careful if you have a broad foot, as going up a size can mean that the crease across the toes is in the wrong place
Todo el mundo en el Internet que desea comprar botas deben comprobar la anchura del pie a través de la boca.
I wear 45 Axo road boots and went down to 44 for Sidi Adv goretex boots, luverly!! Anyway if they don't fit someone will give you 50 bucks for them..
This is pretty much spot on with dianese... used to own a pair (excellent stuff those dianese boots) - but had to try several models before I found one that would accommodate my front-wide feet. Alpinestars for example, I have to this day not found a single pair that fits my feet. if they're wide enough, they're far too long... and I already wear a size 45/46 depending on the shoe. With dianese I could get away with a 45 or 46... which is my usual size... but again, only some of the models would work. Boots are one of the items, that I personally no longer online order, unless I had the same thing before or am pretty certain they're good or there's a full refund return policy. I found that 8 out of 10 attempts were a return item for me. Sidi isn't locally available - so no idea. One thing to consider: cold weather riding / 4-season riding... I for one, rider the year round unless there's heavy snow & ice. So my boot should ideally work 4-season... this means I want to able to wear thick thermal socks during the cold months. One reason I buy my boots usually at least half a size large. The other being summer & heat... hot climate, some sweating and long hours in the saddle equals larger feet by the late afternoon... some breathing space makes a hell lot of a difference.
As Eastroad says, if you own the same model and brand of boot it's safe to order online, otherwise you need to go and try them on. Besides pricing in Au shops is comparable with ordering from OS by the time you calculate shipping. Or it was when I bought my Alpine stars. Boot sizes are all over the shop The only true to size boots I've found is U.S. made work boots. All my U.S. made boots are 11.1/2D regardless of brand. Everything else I own ranges from 10.1/2 to 13. Once you could go into a shoe store and ask for your size, try them and buy them. Now you have to go to four different shops and try on three different size boots of four different brands to find one that fits okay.
I've just received a pair of Sidi Crossfires from a site in Germany for $330 Australian ... delivered ...
Good deal. My Tech 7 Alpinestars cost me $29 more to buy here and I got to try them on. Not to mention I raced out and got them the arvo' before the ride. But there seems to be a much bigger price disparity on the Sidi Crossfires between here and OS.
