Here at ADVrider, we’ve been sharing daily race recaps from the Dakar Rally since it started late last week. But there’s a lot more stuff that we haven’t been able to get out every day—the sheer volume of video footage would overwhelm you, and us.

But. As today is the rest day, when riders are getting a day off to take care of themselves and their bike, we figured we’d take the chance to share some YouTube videos with you.

Let’s start with the W2RC video overview. While the ASO (the Dakar organizers) always lock down their videos so they can’t be embedded, the good people at the W2RC allow us to embed them here. See the first part of Stage 6 (the Chrono stage) highlights above; the second part is here below.

Skyler Howes was knocked out of the race due to mechanical issues on the starting half of Stage 6. See his profile piece below; it makes his early exit that much more of a bummer, tbh. So maybe don’t watch it, if you’re upset that he’s gone.

And here’s an interview with Adrien Van Beveren, Howes’ teammate on the Honda factory squad. Van Beveren has had a tough career at Dakar, suffering through many years with unreliable machinery at Yamaha. Here’s his take on the Dakar life.

Maybe you’re unfamiliar with how the Dakar Rally even works. What’s all this talk about roadbooks? Why aren’t they all on a GPS track? Here’s the official explanation from the sponsors at Red Bull:

Speaking of Red Bull, they also put out this video of oddball vehicles in this year’s race. The lineup in this video is mostly cars, but you do get a look at the BAT Power Racing electric motorcycle as well:

Stay tuned for next week’s coverage of the final stages of the 2024 Dakar Rally!
