In fall of 2023, Honda brought a new CB1000 to EICMA… and we haven’t heard of it since. Until now, that is! It looks like the new Hornet CB1000F is about to debut in production form, and it will not be a budget bike like its 750 twin counterpart. The new four-cylinder should be one of the most powerful bikes Honda makes.

In our initial write-up on the bike that appeared at EICMA, we noted the CB1000 had its looks updated from the older R model, and an engine that was now based on the 2017-and-up CBR1000 four-cylinder. Along with new bodywork, frame and engine, Honda also threw a new electronics package at the machine. The new liter-powered naked bike has throttle-by-wire, which allowed Honda to include three ride modes as well as torque control.

Other updates include LED projector-style headlights and overhauled Showa suspension (complete with the SFF-BP fork, practically ubiquitous on Hondas these days).

When they first showed off the new CB1000F, Honda seemed to indicate the machine would make around 150 horsepower. According to new documents that Motorcycle.com’s Dennis Chung found, the Euro version of the bike should have a max output of 112 kW (which works out to 150 horsepower) and a CB1000SP will make 116 kW, or 155 horsepower. That’s according to documentation filed in Germany, so take note that a sold-in-America version may not be quite as powerful—or it might have even more jam.

As Chung points out, that would then mean the CB1000F and variants would be only behind the CBR1000RR in Honda’s lineup, as that bike makes more power—but much of the naked bike competition from Asia and Europe has long eclipsed the 150 horsepower mark in recent years.
