The KTM Adventure Rally returns to the US this year in a new location—this year, they’re headed to Deadwood, South Dakota. This year’s rally will run a similar format to years past, with the fun and scenery of a new location, and like before, all motorcycle brands are welcome; you can attend on your KLR650, even though it’s a KTM party.

This year, the rally runs October 10-13 (Thursday through Sunday, with the main riding on Friday and Saturday). Here’s the kind of riding that KTM says to expect:

Riding in the Deadwood region will largely consist of extensive double-track trails, highlighted by a red dirt/clay with a selection of rocky sections to add to the challenge along the way. Adventure riders will be in their element with seemingly endless, snaking turns, mountain climbs and valleys as well. Devils Tower, Spearfish Canyon, and the famous Black Hills are just some of the landmarks you’ll be able to tackle throughout the event.

And:

Routes inclusive of designated loops will be suitable for all rider skill levels, supported by KTM with common places for lunch/gas. The format will once again promote a collective environment for riders to enjoy together, and in the interest of safety and to maximize the enjoyment for participants, adventurers will be placed in groups of 2-4 people each day.

Like before, the KTM Adventure Rally will run teams of 2-4 riders, to make sure everyone’s on the buddy system, with riders able to make a team up beforehand. Otherwise, KTM will set you up with teammates of similar skill level at the event. This is a GPS rally, so you’ll need the capability to follow tracks (some phones might work, otherwise, you’ll want a GPS—check with organizers to see their suggestions). Teams will also have a SPOT, InReach or similar satellite beacon for safety.

Rider training seminars run in the days around the rally, and there will be gear vendors on site to help you outfit your bike (or yourself). KTM will also have brand ambassadors and racers on-site (Marvin Musquin, Ryan Dungey, Taylor Robert) and the KTM Street Demo Tour truck will also attend, with KTM’s street-legal enduros, adventure bikes, and even the Duke lineup available for test rides.

The rally  will be based out of The Lodge at Deadwod, with pre-event dinner on Thursday, breakfast Friday-Sunday, and an Awards Dinner on Saturday. For more info, visit the rally’s website here, and remember that sign-ups are limited in number, so if you want in, you’re best to sign up early rather than be too late.
