When former motojournalist Rick Sieman passed away in December of 2023, thousands of readers were left saddened. Writing under the pen name Super Hunky, Sieman had inspired generations of off-road riders through his work at Dirt Bike magazine, and later for websites like Off-Road.com. Not many journos have Facebook fan pages dedicated to their work, but Super Hunky did, where fans paid their respects. And now, they can pay their respects in person in the best way imaginable.

On May 17-19, Super Hunky’s daughter has organized a campout/memorial ride near California City. You can see the basic details below, and find more info at the Official Super Hunky_Rick Sieman Facebook group.

We will be camping from Friday May 17th at 7am to Sunday May 19th at 12 noon.

I am going to be bringing a TON of Super Hunky stickers and hopefully some other cool stuff.
If you can’t make it down, open a beer or pour yourself a icy cold margarita at 1 pm to celebrate Pops.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone that has been so supportive of me and showing me how much my dad meant to you.
A huge thanks to Steve, Sue and Bill Lee for making this happen. I have had a sneak peek at the memorial that they designed for my dad and I am beyond touched.
I will be posting video and photos for everyone that cant be there and plan on making this a yearly ride.

This sounds like an event well-worth attending, but sadly, I am on the wrong side of the continent. There’s no way I can make it. But if any ADVers attend, please grab some photos. I’d love to run them in the POTW column the following Friday, to show the good times remembering a really good guy who helped countless riders kickstart their own dirt bike career.
