Hello, ADV inmates and visitors, and welcome to Photos of the Week. We begin with a big splash made by Roger on his KTM 350 EXC, and photographed and submitted by @DirtySkwerl. “We were riding up the Onion Creek Road (outside Moab, Utah). I stopped and waved our friend Roger to ride past me, so I could get a stream crossing photo. Roger hit it hard. I had lucky timing and caught a perfect shot of the water spraying up.” The photo was taken only a few days ago, but Roger has probably dried off by now, though next time DirtySkwerl tells him, “You just go on ahead, I have to adjust my visor,” he might decide to stop and wait. Or not – that’s KTM riders for you: all guts, all glory.

Beautiful Montana

Here are three shots from @Snow Doctor taken a couple of weeks ago on the first ride of the season for him and Mrs. Snow Doctor. “We rode up to the snowline road closure along the Hungry Horse Dam and Reservoir, then over to Glacier National Park’s Camas Road.”

Beautiful country, snow or no snow! Those motorcycles are a 2018 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and a 2015 BMW F700 GS.

Kootenay riding

“What better place to test the new Norden, the Kootenays in British Columbia,” says @devildogg, who is, yes indeed, riding a 2024 Husqvarna Norden 901 in the Kootenays in the three photos below, shots taken a couple of weeks ago. Hard to tell for sure, but it looks like he might have been near Slocan Lake and New Denver – just a guess, now! Pretty country. So, devildogg, how do you like the Norden? Feel free to send another pic or two next week and let us know.

Irish roads

Here’s a shot from @Durneyj of his 1984 BMW R80 ST at Black Sod Lighthouse on the “Wild Atlantic Way in Mayo.” That would be Ireland.

I took a notion to have my first long ride of the year and decided to go coast to coast (I live pretty much opposite Black Sod on the East Coast!). 650km and 12 hrs later, mischief managed! The roads through Cavan and Leitrim are some of the best in the country not forgetting the N52 that runs from Dundalk to Mullingar. It’s also a gem 🙂

On official business

A few years ago, yours truly had the opportunity to ride a Honda ST1300 fitted with lights and siren out to Vancouver from Toronto. Honda Canada wanted to sell a line of the bikes to police forces in British Columbia, and I needed a bike to get myself home to B.C. from Ontario, where I was visiting family. So . . . a deal was struck, and I had an unofficial “police bike” to ride across five provinces of Canada.  Above, at a fuelling stop in Wawa, Ontario, and below, also at Wawa, a town famous for being called Wawa.

You can’t ride across Canada without paying tribute to a national hero (below). His name was Terry Fox, and he was as brave a soul as ever trod a Canadian highway.

Heading west, and after Ontario comes Manitoba, with all of its wonders.

That’s a cop car behind the unofficial cop bike, and the guy inside the car is a real cop. He pulled me over for speeding, but when he had a chance to look at the bike, he got so excited about it, and we had such a nice conversation about it, that he let me go without a warning. I did, however, manage to slow down a bit.

That fuse in my pocket? The one I wasn’t supposed to install? It works. Just checking . . .

I think the shot below was taken in or near Edmonton, Alberta. There was a huge motorcycle exhibit at that muscum.

Ever onward to the Rocky Mountains and British Columbia.

And here, fuse re-inserted once again, posing for a self-timer shot on the side of a B.C. highway. After that, with lights out and siren silent, I delivered the bike to its destination in Vancouver.

Water to water

We started this week’s photo page with a splash of water, and we end it with quite a bit more of the oxygenated hydrogen, as the non-scientists like to call it. Shot submitted by @Kawazacky, who took it at the 7 Mile Lake dam in Charlotte County, New Brunswick, “while I was looking for new fishing spots. All the locals tell me this lake is empty, which probably means it’s full of massive fish . . .”

And that’s it for this week, gentlefolk, and we hope you have enjoyed the show. Please come back next week for more, and if you have photos, be sure to submit! Just click the link below – and many thanks to those who submitted for this week. Great shots, good times, and memories made to last!
