    For Jenny and Mitch:

The GSXR uses alum side plates which are slightly thicker than the Honda plates, and the same leverage within 10%, the Suzuki is leveraged less.

However, the pieces I got were high mileage, and the alum was showed slight wear on the bore that attaches to the swingarm. It was not at risk of failure, but it was .25mm egg shaped.

So steel is the better choice for long life, but aluminum apparently works too.

I'm ashamed to say no, I haven't put together a ride report yet... I don't have all my photos in one place yet either.

It truly was a life changing trip!

What is a good price on a leftover 2014? A local dealer has one advertised for $5,500 and I am helping a friend look for a good deal.

    Thanks,
    Chris

I will have a redesigned plate and left front mount strut done in the near future that will fix that.

I would love an electric bike !!! But I will wait until they are in at least 2 nd generation before I even think about getting one. Maybe wait until Honda makes one.

And most definitely wait until they have more range. When I do ride, I ride all day. That would just SUCK to have batteries die at 10 AM...

$5499 OTD don't let them charge you assembly fees. They come assembled and ready to ride away after a tire pressure check and fuel.

    a few mods today:

    led headlight

    new levers

    and Oxford heated touring grips

I really like the heated grips, it took me maybe 5 minutes to wire them in, it's so easy on this bike to run the electricals. I still need to wire in a relay but that'll be a weekend job. The grips are really nice, the only things I can nitpick are that the connectors suck and arent weather proof at all, so I'll be swapping those out, and the bracket for the controller is plain zinc-plated, I wish it was powdercoated black but it's nothing a can of spray paint can't solve.

Today I removed the wheel and cleaned the tire to get a better look at the damage. There is no sign of something puncturing or cutting the tire.
Almost looks like it just split. I will take this to the dealer and see if the warranty will cover it. The rubber is split to the steel belts.

See what the date code is on the tire. Tires have a shelf life of two years. They are supposed to be disposed of after that. I haven't seen an old tire just split like that though, even when they're old and dry. I've never been crazy about Pirelli and Metzeler tires anyway (they're the same company.)

Forget the dealer warranty. I am certain that Pirelli would like the pictures and possibly the tire for further investigation.

American Greed says that a recall could get all Scorpion tires replaced.

    Do it for us!

I'm gonna buy my first bike today, a new non-ABS 2014 X. $5,699 MSRP = $6,715 OTD with Utah sales tax, $300 freight, no assembly fee. I'm really happy with that price, seeing as how I was quoted $7,500 OTD at a different place a month ago when I first started looking for a bike. So excited!

Contacted Pirelli last night via their website. Had an answer this morning. They want me to take the tire to the selling dealer or any Pirelli dealer if that is more convenient. They'll handle it through the dealer and will determine if it is a warranty case.
Glad that they responded so quickly but I'm not sure how long this is going to take. I guess I'll just go ahead and install a new tire and see how things work out.

Did they include the $300 Honda Bucks?

Yeah, I had a dealer tell me they sold CB500X's for $4999 but when I got there it was way over $7000.

$6715 OTD is about what I paid, but the Honda Bucks were not on the table at the time.

It's a good price, the dealer makes some money, you save some money (the only difference in a 2015 is color, and I don't like black anyhow).

Yes the bucks are included. Looks like the dealer basically matched the Honda promotion to get rid of old stock.
As a first bike buyer, seeing a $6,299 price morphing to $7,500 was a very unpleasant experience.
