I've had a lot of interest in the Motoz Hybrid Extremes since I mounted up a set for Colorado. Now that I have about 400 miles of riding the Alpine sections of Colorado and about 100 miles of the Daniel Boone NF in Eastern Kentucky I would like to give my opinion on the tires. I wanted to buy a set of tires specifically for Colorado this year. It cost a lot of money and takes a lot of time to to go out west from KY and you want to make sure you've got tires that will take you to the places you want to go. I asked @MVI his recommendation and he proposed the Hybrid Extreme with the rear tire being the Gummy version. I mounted them with the Tubliss system and initially I was concerned about tire life for the rear I made 2 shake down rides in KY on some of the tougher sections and my first impression was WOW, these tires really grip Now I am on day 6 in Colorado. We have rode all of the major passes on the Alpine Loop plus Black Bear and Imogene. We also rode Phantom Canyon, Shelf Road and Phantom Creek near Divide CO. In addition we usually have about 10-15 miles of pavement each day getting to the trail head. I've been using 15 psi on the paved sections and 8 psi off road. My impression so far: * the tires are surprisingly quite on the pavement * at 8 psi the ride is very soft and the tall side wall really enhances the suspension * the grip in rocks, going up ledges and even over logs is awesome. I've even changed my riding style somewhat to avoid wheel spin and let the tire grip. * wear has been very good Here is the rear tire this afternoon No knobs are torn or cut badly and the breaking grooves are still visible Knob height is about 13mm. I think they were 15 when new The front shows very little wear Overall I'm very impressed. I am planning to ride the Land Between the Lakes DS ride in Sept. I was expecting to need new tires after Colorado but the Extremes should last into the fall.
the Motoz Xtreme Hybrid Gummy is perfectly suited for Alpine rock, and it works surprisingly well in wet conditions too. Glad to see the trip is working out so well
Mounted a set of Motoz Xtreme Hybrid gummies from @MVI Moto on my CRF450L. First time I've mounted tyres. It'll be easier next time. I learned that No-Mar lube works great smeared straight on the bead, much better than diluted in a spray bottle. https://motoz.com.au/product/xtreme-hybrid/
If you suspect that your tires are cracking and dry rotting… Recognize that cracking and dry rotting are signs of overall tire tread deterioration. This visible tread deterioration is a clear indication that the crucial tread compound and resins, which contribute in a fundamental way to proper road surface interaction, are no longer effective. Remember that the bar shouldn’t be whether a tire can successfully roll without catastrophic structural failure, but whether the tire still has necessary characteristics to provide optimum traction. If you see visible signs that tires are dried out, it's time to get a new set. There’s no way (oils, lubricants, prayer, or other) to renew a tire’s life. Don't push it if your tires are cracking and dried out.
Tire Age... You should replace the motorcycle tires if they are over five years old. However, this is a general guideline to follow, and it does not apply to all situations. You may be able to use tires that are older than five years if they sat in storage for the first one to three years without extensive damage. Rear motorcycle tires typically require replacement more frequently than front tires. Most motorcyclists will go through two rears for every front, but some touring rear tires will last just as long as their counterparts. Tire mileage depends on several factors, including: Underinflated/overloaded tires (side wear) Overinflated tires (center wear) Insufficient tire rotation Improper wheel alignment These issues create not only uneven wear but also accelerated wear. Motorcycle maintenance is necessary for extending the life of your tires, which explains why it is hard to generalize tire timelines—each set of circumstances has a different impact. External factors such as weather patterns and road conditions also play a major role. If you frequently drive on smooth pavement, your tires are going to last longer than if you ride a very coarse road daily. Sport bike tires made of softer compounds than say a sport touring or cruiser tires, so they will tend to wear out quicker in the same environment. It is important to make sure you have the right tires for your riding style. Having the wrong type of tires can cause their lifespan to deteriorate quickly.

The UPS guy stopped by on Friday and dropped off tires for the 2022 riding season. Thanks @MVI for the great price and quick delivery. I plan to use the Rallz rear with the Enduro IT front for the majority of my off road riding. These will also be set up with the Tubliss system. I'm going to mount up the Heidenau K60s with Tubliss for my back roads and dual sport riding where a lot of pavement is required. I still have the Motoz Hybrid Extremes with about 50% life. I'm going to save these for "special" rides like Colorado 2022.
I sent a pm to Mark yesterday with a few tire questions. He was super quick and gave me some great options, so I ordered 2 sets one for my GS and set for my KTM. Here it is thanksgiving and I get a message back with a tracking number for my tires. All I can say is Wow, fantastic customer service!
Looking to replace the tubeless tires on my KTM 390 ADV, stock size 100/90/19 and 130/80/17. Looking at the RALLZ and Adventure models. What is your thought on which ones to go with, will be used for gravel roads and some easy trail that would have mud. Thanks Wayne
